    It's the Little Things...

Due to the depressing appearance of my latest posts, I'm determined to prove that I really am an optimistic person and have resolved to write up a list of "the little things" that make me extra happy here in Australia.

    So, to start things off:

There's something about loose change that's always bothered me: it's such a nuisance; it jangles and rattles around in your pockets or makes the seams on your wallet strain uncomfortably; it's practically impossible to actually use it when you're out shopping without making everyone standing in the queue behind you outraged.

With Australian currency, however, although I'm still not a big fan, I finding myself more and more inclined to appreciate those small pieces of metal.  Especially when you find a tiny gold one and realize that you just picked up $2 dollars.  Or the larger gold piece and rejoice in the fact that you have a $1 coin and can now do a load of laundry...or use the dryer!.  50-pieces are also common, here and, conveniently, they're the largest coins of the lot, so it's easy to pick them out and actually use them when you're doing your shopping at Woolworth's.

But, the absolute best part?  They've abolished the penny.  Thank God!  :D
